Inspire Their Passions for STEM & Robotics This Summer

April 12, 2022

When we, as parents, think about the summer, we might think of our childhood fun—swimming, riding bikes, going to the playground, and staying out all day until after dark.  Kids these days love Michigan summers for those reason too, but they may also enjoy things that we never had, like technology, engineering, and robotics. Give them the chance to explore those passions this summer, while still enjoying the nice weather, fun activities, and friendships with a STEM or Robotics camp at Cranbrook Schools in Bloomfield Hills, MI.

STEM Camps

Cranbrook is excited that it is one of a handful of camps in the nation offering STEM camp modules developed by the Edgerton Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). As Cranbrook continues in its relationship with MIT, we are proud to be able to offer such a remarkable opportunity for your child through our day camps.

Each module is a week in length and is offered when available. Modules include App Inventor, Digital Game Design, Electronics Engineering and Design, Techno Threads, Rocketry, Eco Detectives, Physics of Photography, Kinetic Sculpture, Energy Engineer, Advanced Electronics, Underwater ROVs, 3D Printing, and Skitterbots.

Note: Campers must have a general interest in STEM and offered sessions.

Robotics Camps

Robotics Day Camps at Cranbrook utilize robotics to explore the realms of science, technology, engineering, and math. Working with LEGO® and VEX™ IQ platforms, campers design, build, and program autonomous and remote-controlled robots to experience challenges and participate in competitions.

Cranbrook Schools robotics program during the academic year regularly advances its VEX IQ, VEX, and WRO™ teams to state- and world-level championships. As an extension of our long history of superior robotics achievements, Robotics Day Camps offer LEGO® and VEX IQ programs staffed by members of our Schools' team coaches who help campers build robots to compete in the official league tournaments.

Note: Campers must have a general interest in Robotics and offered sessions.

Additional Activities and Benefits

Open Swim
Campers swim twice a week at Cranbrook's Williams Natatorium. Swim tests are conducted on the first day. Campers who fail or prefer not to take the test are supplied with life jackets and remain in the shallow end of the pool. Campers are allowed to retake the test at any time.

Lunch, Snacks, and Allergies
Lunches and snacks are included in tuition and are provided by Chartwells Dining Services. They are a nut-free organization who cater Cranbrook Schools’ meals during the academic year. Special arrangements can be made for campers with food allergies. Lunch takes place on the Cranbrook Kingswood Upper School - Cranbrook campus.

Extended Care, Transportation Service, and Swim Lessons are also available for an additional fee.
